Both physical activity and listening to music have a positive impact on people with dementia. Why not try combining the two? Dancing is not only the art that professionals do in a ballroom. To be technical about it, dancing is moving rhythmically to music. If the person has a functional impairment, swinging the arms, swaying bodies or nodding the head can be dancing. The choice of music should be guided by your intentions with the activity: try an upbeat rhythm for a workout or a fun activity, or soothing classical music for a calmer moment.
